Inspired by early mornings en las calles de mis padres.
Papayas under moonlight. Wires catching the sunrise.
Flowers waking up. A familiar street becoming beautiful
because I finally stopped long enough to see it.
THE IDEA
Better does not mean perfect.
“Mejor que ayer” became less of a destination
and more of a practice.
Look again.
Make something.
Try again tomorrow.
During difficult seasons, these ordinary morning scenes
became little places to rest. Painting them gave those moments
somewhere to stay.
THE CAMERA → THE PAINTING
I don't need the painting to copy the photograph.
The photograph documents what happened. Painting lets memory decide what mattered.
OBSERVATION → MEMORY
The street gets remembered differently.
Cables can become darker.
Sky can become bluer.
Light can become more dramatic than it was.
That space between what the camera saw
and what I remember feeling is where the painting lives.
